Title: 8 valve Standard exhaust Query
Post by: Daddycool on 16 October 2006, 13:16
Right my back box has given up the ghost! not bad really its been on since the car was new!
I want the same again but wheres the best place to get a replacement? Just normal exhaust places or VW?? The tail pipes are stainless steel (see pic), will i be able to get one the same?

Or if you've got some money burning a hole in your pocket, Milltek stainless systems have a tailpipe that looks the same as the original.

I was thinking of just getting another standard jobby but could consider a alternative,  How much are we talking for a milltek bax box??

Has anyone got one fitted? If so how loud is it?

Cheers.

I got mine (not inc manifold) for about £300 i think straight from Milltek. It's not stupidly loud like some you hear but it is definately louder than standard. Loud in a nice way though, pootling round town it just grumbles a little but at 4k it opens up nicely.

Get a replacement from VW. I've got a cheap exhaust from National or somewhere simmilar, and it has blown twice. Get a Miltek or Powerflow though if you are feeling flush.

£300 for a backbox would be a bit steep!!      No it was £300 for everything apart from the manifold which is available separately for £280.
