My window has an annoying whistle, i have tried adjusting the position on the winder mech, but cannot get rid of it.
It seems to have some play in it, ie it sort of rocks left to right when looking at the window.
Any suggestions ??

Masking tape your window to the window seal, so it has no gaps, if the whistle is still there, then its probably the door seal, try adjusting you door striker pin "in" a fraction, to pull the door shut a little tighter onto the rubber
sometime doors can whistle if the polythene membrane is damaged under the door card..
also check that the rubbers on the door handle, and mirror have not split
The rocking that you have noticed is normal

The rocking isnt really normal but common due to age. To correct teh rocking you usally need to renew or tighten the clamp that holds the glass on the winder rail. Also make sure the 2 bolts on the rail are tight.

Had some spare time today, so finally got to have a look at it.
It appears the 310mm measurement from the edge of glass to clamp is critical !!
No more whistles !!

care to elaborate for others??

here's a pic !!

measure the distance from the edge of the glass to the bracket that holds the glass ( shown in yellow).
mine was out by 10mm !!

perfect explanation!!

Excellent, i shall try to do this on mine when i have a bit of time. Do you have to take everything out of the door to do this, or can it be done by just removing the plastic membrane?
Cheers :)

It's a glass out job.
Remove door panel, undo nuts that hold glass in, remove rubber from around window aperture, and then remove glass from door.
The bracket that the glass sits in is very tight on the glass, so be carefull when taking it off.
I used a bit of Fairy Liquid on the glass when putting it back on.
Good luck!

Hmm, thats put me off a bit, but i shall probably give it a go when the time comes :)
Thanks

Mine whistles a bit, I'll have to have a go at setting the window up as per that diagram to see if it helps ?
-
I've printed off the picture of the window setup to try and get mine rite but I don't know if its for a 3 or 5 door, does anyone know or doesn't it make any difference ?
-
It doesn't matter as long as its big type front windows.
-
Thanks for that mate and it is a big window, cheers
-
Grantley, did you have a go at this?
And does it stop the rocking of the window when fixed in the right place? tempted to get my door apart tomorrow and get in there and tighten eveything up because my drivers window would turn 180degrees rocking out if the door wasnt in the way atm
-
It stops 90% of it!
