The clutch on my VW Golf MK3 1.8 GL 1993 is really stiff. Is this likely to be the pedal or clutch cable? Any hot tips on resolving the problem or what may be causing it?
Cheers,

I have come accross this too myself.....
1st thing to do is change the clutch cable as the adjuster seem's to seize and eventually stick solid. what i would also do while the old cable if off is the ratchet which sit's on the clutch arm as this wears and crack's. this is under the cover on the side of the box (green on mine) and cost me about a tenner last time. This is a common fault so I was informed and is more easy to replace while the cable if off as it takes 2 people to reclip the cable when you wan't to remove again.

Thanks mate. I'll have a look tomorrow and decide what to do. Any idea how much a clutch cable willl cost?

As long as it is auto adjusting your looking about £25 for the early one (upto 94) from eurocar part's. one thing I really recommend is to fit the cable is remove the wiper's and plastic tray(below the screen) completely as the cable has a grommit where it goes through the bulk head and if not fitted 100% you end up with a pool inside your car....
I know this after bailing my car out one night!!!
