Hi,
You seem to be pretty knowledgable and switched on so thought you could tell me if I got a good deal or not.
I bought a 2001 Y reg silver Golf GTi 4 weeks ago, its got 88k on the clock and is in pretty good condition. Its the 1.8T 150 bhp 5 door version. I paid £4500 for it and its had one owner since new.
Cheers

sounds good to me.....

Hi, That was a good price. Glasses guide mileage adjusted trade figure is £4650 so a dealer would want to pay c£4500 grand. The Glasses guide mileage adjusted retail figure is £6350 so yes, you got a very good deal.
I hope you enjoy it!

If she drives well - nice deal indeed. One previous owner is rare at 88k.
Y = Summer 2001, before 30/9/2001
Now you've made the saving, check out things that need attention with a trusted technician. Chances are the ventilated discs will be shot, but you've got a new exhaust system by now.

Cheers boys. It did seem like a pretty good deal. And the icing on the cake is that the one previous owner was Northumbria police. It was a management fleet car so:
1/ hasn't been raced around.
2/ has had loads of work done regardless of cost (brand new gearbox and clutch fitted and full new exhaust all last year).
3/ they're cars are all serviced twice as regular as what the manufacture recommends.

having a new gearbox indicates that they did indeed race around in it!! :laugh: :laugh:
still a bit of a bargain though :smiley:

Some people where I work have opted for lease cars and because they don't own them generally they tend not to care about them. So its not always a good thing.
