The clutch on my Mk4 2l GTI has died, or so it seems (slipping). However I've just noticed a liquid mark on the floor of my garage. To my knowlege the brackes & clutch use the same fluid, yet the brakes are uneffected. Is it possible I have got a simple leak somewhere? (the level in the resevoir is fine). Or am i looking at a big bill?

The clutch is hydraulically operated - fluid comes from the brake fluid reservoir to feed the clutch cylinder. Unless the clutch cylinder was stuck - i.e. not returning clutch properly after pressing the clutch pedal, your fluid leak is probably unrelated to your slipping clutch.
