Probably yes..... but want someone who knows what they're talking about to confirm, when in any gear particularly 2nd to 5th. I put my foot down, the engine revs high but the car doesn't pickup for a couple of seconds. Also a nasty smell from the exhaust, probably the CAT aswell ?????
MK 4 GTI Turbo - 108k. Thanks in advance.

yep sounds like it tbh best test is in fourth at normal speeds put your foot down n if the revs rise and the speed doesnt rise then the clutch is shot

Thanks for that, it does this in every gear so think i'll have to get it sorted as wont be able to sell it. Any ideas about the smell from the exhaust ?

Is the smell similar to hot brakes? If it is then its the clutch.
A hot cat has quite a distinctive smell like sulphur.

Not hot brakes, not too sure of the smell of sulphur either, i'll just have to get it all checked out. Thanks though.
