Backbox on my 8V Digi has started to blow, was thinking of replacing the system anyway so this gives me agood excuse to change the lot.
Which ones fit best and do any give more power?
Also the car is used for trackdays so must be within 98db.
Anyone got any recommendations?
-
I have a recommendation!! Do a search for 'exhaust' or similar, this is a question thats been asked lots ot times are there is lots of info about.
-
genuine VAG mate
-
Tried to do a search mate but very slow function on this forum and got fed up waiting

genuine VAG mate
Absolutely right. They are the best and unless you REALLY want a stainless system I would stick with standard.
-
i have a scorpion system on mine, great fit ,looks, and a few bhp more to boot !!
got mine off evil bay for 130,but if you dont want stainless, take the advice go standard mate
-
Cant beat standard, looks much better imo
Are you off FT.com? strayed from the cause of fiesta? I did (thank god)
-
Yeah I am, very big Ford fan and still got my eye on a FRST
-
Millteks are fantastic exhausts, look oem, are stainless and fit perfectly.
A bit pricey though.

ahh fair enough, personally I could afford to insure either an XR2i or my gti 8v..... chose the gti, never regretted it
you should do some of those fiesta guides for the golfs, they were good!
Are those milltek systems very loud?
-
Yeah Milltek here too. You gets whats ya pays for :smug:
-
ive got a milltek and cant fault it. but yeah they are quite expensive but worth it.
-
Thanks for the advice, looks like Milltek it is then. Any chance of getting one for £300.00? Best so far is £333.00 fitted
-
£333 doesn't sound too bad fitted. Mine was £290 direct from Milltek and my garage charged me £20 to put it on.
-
:wink:Standard is best man! That good old GTi rummble. Keep it real!
-
Thats a good price, mine was £350 direct from Milltek & I fitted it
BTW I still a very nice low GTi rumble :nerd: It also looks Original, but a bit fatter.

The Miltek is like a standard pipe only more so ! !
-
hi go super sprint but pricey
-
boom i'm another milltek system owner! except mine's a g60 corrado one

LOL, they are all the same system mate! Its the link pipe from the downpipe which they change for each car
-
How much noise does a Milltek make at full chat? My car gets used for trackdays and so can't be louder than 95 - 98 db's. Don't think it would be as loud as that but just want to know before I buy
-
ive a supersprint & love it. not overly loud either and thats with a silencer removed!! with all silencers in they claim to be as quiet as standard item, cracking fit also
Clicky for pic of exhaust (http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y186/Gambit001/RearFlap.jpg)

my milltek isnt super loud its just got a nice sound to it, its also a corrado system like joes but with a mk3 VR6 tail pipe. i thought the bore of the corrado G60 one compared to the golf one is bigger meaning better air flow correct me if im wrong

i wasn't trying to say mine was any better  however i have a milltek g60 downpipe. they also differ in tailpipe design so in that respect i do have a corrado g60 system as opposed to a golf one.

I think you shouls just about me ok mate. If in any doubt opt for a Supersprint instead.
-
Ok guys looks like Milltek is a no go, went into AMD at Bicester where I was going to get it from and asked about the noise limit. They phoned MIlltek direct and came back with it will be too loud.
So now thinking of getting a Jetex system, anyone else got one?
Oh and thanks for the response guys

95db seems a bit low, what rpm is that taken? The track days I go on specify 100 Db dB(A) at 0.5 metres and at 3/4 maximum rpm.
Demon Tweeks also sell add on baffles to quieten down the exhaust specifically for track days and to meet noise regulatons.

im actually making up a new exhaust myself for the golf, its going to be almost straight through 2.5" pipe. i'm keeping the original backbox (cos its mint anyway) and i'll add the center box if neccessary, my plan is as little restriction as possible, but with a tolerable noise.
will post my progress on how it went...
ps, can someone set up a dub project page for me, i have one on edition38, but i want one on here too - busier/ better forum :D
-
^^^the only people that can set up project sections are admin... email jv@golfgti.co.uk and he'll sort it out.

I run a full sportex system with twin 3.5 DTM tails
fits well but is a little on the loud side
