I have a jetta GTI 8v. The needle never gets above the white section on the temp gauge unless u leave it ticking over for about 20 mins. As soon as u start driving it drops back down to the white section. The heaters arnt hot just warm. The fan works so i am assuming the thermostats gone and is stuck open. Can anyone back me up on this????? :o
-
and your fan never comes on?
Same problem over here mate :'(
-
this happened on my driver, and that was a lazy thermostat and a blocked water rail, wouldnt come of choke either, but that was a gaybar pierburg ;)
-
veebub dont supose u changed the pieburg for a weber and still have it laying abt some where??
-
nah the car was f**ked so i sold it about 2 months ago sorry! worth getting the weber tho!
-
would love to if i can find one cheap enough, cant afford full price otherwise id have a gti instead :-[ :'(v lol
-
if you have a driver put an 8v cam in it, makes a bit of a difference!
-
so wots the deal with cams and carbs??
im fairly new when it comes to engine work etc etc
-
basically the more air and fuel in the stronger the burn so more power, also if the exhaust gases etc have a smooth path in and out then more fuel and air can get in/out quicker. try looking at engines on

cheers will have a look when im more awake, so will an 8v gti cam fit in my 1.6 89g plated golf??
need any other mods to make it fit??
-
nah its a straight swap, get your cambelt done at the same time tho, it will help your car breathe easier, get a weber and a k+n bolt on filter and an exhaust system will add a few horsies on and make it rev freeier as well. get it all set up on a rolling road with the right jets etc and it will make loads of difference :)
-
car has got a german exhaust on there at the moment, 6x4 letter box, bit loud though lol, cam belt is getting done saturday, got a k+n bolt on but the tuner guy who last did my car said to take it off as it dont protect he carn from freezing in the winter??
how would i change the jets??
-
have to get a garage to tune it up for the jets, freezing in the winter can happen cos there is no warm air feed but its ok as long as you let the car idle and warm up first, will only be a prob on freezing days!
