Title: Juddering while accelerating
Post by: karllap on 12 October 2006, 14:21
Hi,
I have a golf tdi 150 2002 model. When I am accelerating it judders, especially at low revs (or I seem to notice it more there).
It is very noticible on the motorway at normal speed if I accelerate it is very juddery.
The best way to describe it is that it is like there is a lead breaking down causing a misfire(if it were petrol).

The thing to note is that it was in for a service last week at a local garage were the oil, air and fuel filter were changed aswell as the oil.
The problem only started today though not as soon as it came out of the garage so it may well just be coinicidence.

Thanks

Are you also noticeing a loss in performance? Just wondered if maybe a vaccuum hose or sensor lead has been knocked off whilst the service was carried out :undecided: Easily done.

Just another thought as the fuel filter has been replaced.........is there air in the transparent fuel line. Its very common for the T piece on top of the fuel filter to leak, especially after work carried out. If you see air in there try moving it slightly whilst the engine is running to see if there is any difference in the air bubbles and running.

Thanks, this sounds about right. The symptons I'm getting feel like a fueling problem.
Where abouts is the fuel filter? I've only just got my golf so I'm not quite familiar with under the bonnet combined with me only knowing the basics when it comes to mechanics make me need all the help I can get.

Thanks

Ok, I think I've got the filter, is it the cylinder shaped thing on the left side of the engine bay standing vertically with the pipes at the top?
If so unfortunately the pipes are not clear they are black, the other thing is I noticed that on one of the connectors there is an arrow, the arrow is pointing away from the engine is this correct, I would have thought it be pointing towards the engine showing the direction of flow of fuel.
