Title: Doc ...I need to pick your brains!
Post by: Phil mcavity on 11 October 2006, 21:12
i have a sat nav MFD2 factory fitted system already fitted to my pride and joy, i dont know if you have one too, but do u know why according to the manual it says under dynamic setting in the options for your destination, it will tell u of any acciendent delays etc and show u on the Map as you go , but when i try and enable it in the menus, it only gives me choice of fastest, shortest, the dynamic option is hatched out or unselectable. do u know why this is??? do i have to subscibe? different cd rom? thanx in advance.. ps the handbook has flippin german pictures pictures with english writing so that helps alot, good old vw!

The feature, you are describing only works in europe.  It does not work over here in the UK.  It is similar to tom tom traffic alerts.  It lets you see where, traffic is in advance.

Hmmm.

If, as I think it is TMC then it should work in the uk as I have pioneer navigation in my works vans and they pick up TMC information and re-route you automatically.

I will go for a spin in my r32 on Saturday and try to work out I can get it to work in the UK.

I have used Dynamic route guidance abroad but have not tried it here!

I'll let you know my findings!

The CD/DVD needs to be TMC-enabled, and the one VW ship isn't (at least my June 2005 one isn't). If you look at the suppliers website the TMC CDs are about 50% more expensive than the standard ones.

I have a TMC-enabled CD for France and it works as described, i.e. dynamic route guidance.

Agreed - mine is TMC enabled - it lets me select TMC and when traffic etc is coming up it gives you the option of moving around it!
