Title: DVD nav problem
Post by: deva on 11 October 2006, 11:32
Hi,

I bought a nav disc off eBay but my unit does not allow me to input a destination. The unit shows my current location and will navigate me "HOME" but thats it!! Do you think that the problem lies with the DVD disc? Also I do not have any intructions on how to use the unit so could someone tell me if I can convert the distance from miles to kms, please.

Thanks alot

Sounds like you have bought a non compatable or faulty disc - what make/version is it ? Did you system work OK before ?

You can convert the reading from Kms to Mls easily by changing the settings in the MFD computer - make sure British Imperial is selected as opposed to British Metric.

Thanks for the reply  I have the V3 version. I dont have the MFD computer as I bought the nav unit from eBay also.I have the midline computer which has very limited functions. Is there any way to covert from miles to kms via the nav unit itself?

Thanks

I can only comment on the unit I have - DVD Sat Nav with iPod and Highline computer. The DVD unit has limited operating functions within the unit itself, but you need to use the MFD to change from imperial/metric unit settings.

By the way, I also have Version 3 of the Sat Nav disc.

Quick quesion on this. I have the DVD V3, however it has scratches on the disk  - causing the calculating route to take ages for some routes (mainly for the south coast of the uk). Does anybody else have a dodgy disk ... can I raise it with my dealer - they installed the disk from new and not even looked at it until this morning when I got fed up waiting for the route ...

Hi,

It sounds like the disc is damaged! I cured the problem with mine with a brand new disc from the dealer. Everything is working fine now. One problem I had was that the dealer told me that as the unit was aftermarket it would not be covered under the warranty  Had to pay £180
