hi guys hope uz can help, i just had my wheels balanced on my 89 valver but am still getting steering wheel vibration at like 80 mph lasts till abt 105mph any ideas whats up?
-
either a balance has come off lol or u got a buckeled wheel or a suspension component is loose/bent/broken/missing start by checking all your rubber bushings on the wishbones etc
-
Did you only get the fronts done? At those speeds its usally the rears that you can feel.
-
if a wheel is buckled you will feel it from about 30mph & they wont be able to balance it either.
tyre pressures set correctly, 4 wheels balanced & a proper 4 wheel alignment - should be shake free.
if not then start looking at worn bushes in wishbones, ball joints, track rod ends & top mounts
-
try swapping the rear wheels to the front, if it makes any difference then its probably an issue with the wheels/tires, if not then its something else :)

just to let uz know i got my cousin aka ( cowsar) to take the wheels off to put my centre caps on right coz the bumholes at kwik fit didnt put them back in right , and when the wheels were tightened back up god knows but i've got no vibration at all  btw hes got biceps like popeye!

i guess you mean the spigots not the centre caps? incidently make sure if ya buy second hand alloys to get the right spigots for your car , golf II is 57.1 bore . fortuantly i knew about this before i bought a set of alloys of ebay on the weekend , so there sitting safely in the garage until wolfrace have sent me out the right ones for the car , (they have paypal made life so much easier click n buy :p)
