Hi danny
What model is your car? mk1 golf 1.5, 1.6, 1.8 is it a GTI, caddy, cab?
Most Aux Air valves on a 1.8 GTI are mouted and located just behind the intake manifold on the left hand side, if you are standing in front of the car...

Thanx! Found it. I've been thinking to replace it. I got this problem. When I start the car in the morning it runs perfect. When I get into traffic and the engine heats up the car begins to miss and hesitate. Eventually I have to pull over and let it sit for 15-20 mins, before I can attempt to get back on the road :embarassed: So after that it just happens again. So what do u guys think? Is it that or could it be the Warm-up regulator?

it hesitate when i get on the gas. idles fine. its a 1.8gti

I swaped out the Aux Air Valve for a new one. ($80). So far so good. Still gotta put it through the test. I gotta drive it through some traffic and let you guys know if that solved my issue.
If that doesn't work... I guess I'll start looking at the Warm-up Reg. Be back gonna go drive it around.

Well although the Aux Air Valve didn't solve the problem, it did make the engine run smoother. I just ordered the Warm-up Regulator (aka Fuel Pressure Reg.) According to my VW specialist, that should solve the problem. He said that 2 out of 3 old Dubs have this problem and that the Warm-up Reg is whats gone to hell. Too bad this parts is costing me a bit ($240). Should get the part in 2morrow. I'll post how it goes.

Just got back from a long ride on a hot day. I just replaced the Warm-up Regulator. I thought that would been the solution for the "hot sputters", but that didn't work. Man I've replaced almost everything on this 1.8 GTI ; 84. I have no idea anymore. Could a fuel pump going old cause the car to run crappy when its hot?
Its always runs crappy when the right VDO gauge gets to 100
