Title: OZ versus BBS
Post by: wolfrace on 06 January 2004, 15:01
Have two sets of wheels in my garage - need to get rid of one set  and put the other on the Golf Mk3 8v.

Brand New 17inch O-Z or Second hand good condition 15inch BBS's.

Whats should I do? ??? ???

It know the BBS's look good...but the O-Z's look good too?

Cant make up my mind?

Thought I'd ask the audience?

Cheers! :)

17" OZ cos basically

1: OZ is BRAND NEW
2: OZ is a bigger wheel
3: OZ is a EXCELLENT brand

BBS is a better brand, but thats the only thing that it has as a positive against those OZ's

Also, you'll probably get a more comfortable ride with the 15" BBS, but if this isn't important to you stick the 17's on.

mk3's suit 17's, 15's look too small on them

15s look fine on a Mk3, all things are relative...

17s will look better but destroy the ride, lessen the handling and significantly add to the unsprung weight. Also, someone more technically minded than me  ??? will give you the correct term for the fact that larger wheels have more weight further from the hub, so due to centrifugal force will not spin (therefore accelerate) as quickly. Also, it increases the gearing, again not great for your acceleration!

Forget the wheels, is posing or driving more important?
