Title: Wheel sizes and offsets
Post by: Paul-GTI on 01 October 2006, 17:16
Hi again,

Thinkin bout gettin a set of winter alloys in 17 or 18 inch for the GTI.

17 inch pcd 112 offset of 45mm, tyres 225-45-17

18 inch pcd 112 offset of 45mm, tyres 225-40-18

Is this correct and is there any tolerance on the offset as I have been lookin on ebay and alot of wheel have a 35mm offset

Ta

35mm offset will not work mate. You need to keep it exactly as standard. The wheels would not sit correctly within the arches and would cause steering / suspension issues.

Also stick to the 17s for winter as the higher the profile the better for snowy use.
