Righty.... ive just got my 97R Gti and after buying it suprise suprise, things going wrong which the seller must have forgot to mention (yeah right!)
The car has a Toad alarm fitted but i feel the problem lies with the centeral locking, ihave found out today that it works with air from the box behind the drivers rear in the boot. Can any1 shed sum light on this for me as the drivers door wont lock/unlock with the emmobiliser only with the key. Also if i lock it with the key should the passenger and boot doors lock too?? when locking/unlocking with the emmobiliser i can hear that box buzzing as if its trying to lock the door on the drivers side and i can hear hissing from the drivers door too.
Any1 with a Toad alarm fob with 4 buttons will prob be able to help.
Many thanks guys!!!

yeah all of the doors & boot should lock when you use the key in the drivers door. the hissing you describe sounds like one of the central locking tubes has come loose somewhere which would mean theres a leak in the system and so the other doors wont lock. try following the hissing & check the rubber boots in the doors to make sure the tube hasnt cracked there.

Great il get on it tomorrow morning asap, have you a guide on here step by step on how to remove the door pannels?? i know it should be pretty straight forward but i dont wanna be forcing anything thats not meant to be forced. Cheers

The vacuum line has probably come off behind the boot between the door and car.
Open the drivers door and pull the rubber boot back, make sure the hoses are still connected, check all doors BEFORE you start removing the door trims, its very common for a hose to come adrift.
