had a busy day today and drove home in the vr6 to realise (after driving the clio last night..) that the standard lights are actually p1ss poor....... it was night time/dark and pi55in it down and i could hardly see a thing... did the chav boy thing and bunged me foggies on but they didnt do a great deal....
so im askin......
who's got what lights mk4 style/twin/others and what do they compare like with standards?? was gonna change them really but driving at speeds (which you rapidly do with out noticing in the vr6) at night is f00kin dangerous!!
if yas can show me some pics of em and tell me how they compare with originals and what bulbs your usin!!
cheers!!

Yep, the standard bulbs are total sh!te aint they. I ended up buying some hellfrauds "Super Brilliance" Xenon gas filed ones which are 50% brighter than normal and are still legal. They are so so so much better and are so much whiter than the normal yellow glow!!! You can buy 100% brighter ones from ebay or any car parts place but they tend to blind other road users and are ilegal. Im verry happy with the hellfrauds ones anyway.

I've got the forementioned super brilliance bulbs in my car atm, and they are pretty impressive. They're a lot whiter than standard bulbs as well, so they look a bit better.
Incidentially, they're also on buy one get one free at Halfords now which makes them only slightly more than standard bulbs to upgrade. I know we're expensive for bulbs, but for what they are (and bogof) they're pretty good.
I use 100/80w H4's in the mk2 and they're good as well, but not e-marked and therefore not legal. Still no probs though, and noone's flashed me for having bright lights yet :)

I've got superblue from powerbulbs which are 30% brighter ...zenon...its also buy one get one free and you get a free packet of phillips powerblue side lights aswell
-
I have halfords 50% extra light ones in the mainbeam and bosch blue in the dipped...
makes a difference, when i first put them in i was waiting for it to go dark so i could test them, night came and it was long before people were pulling out on me and i was really lighting them up
at the end of the day its a safety aspect and on previous driving at night with bad hd alinement, i can say it gets pretty scarey when you can't see properly!

You should try Rallye headlamps! They are the biggest pile of poo for lighting up the road! Candles would do a better job  I mean H2 bulbs! WTF!!! Obsolete from main dealer and the only place i found that does them has now stopped doing them! Bought some 100w ones to see if they were any better but they only lasted a day or two. At least you can upgrade your headlamps and bulbs  lol sorry rant over now

passed mot with them tho they light the road up a treat and mates i have asked say they arent dazzling and that latest generation beemer lites are worse. u know the blueish ones that make ya think old bill
