No worry
edit: scroll down
-
-
i had a problem, proved to not be a problem, now ive got a problem further along the line than where i thought the problem was...
i need a picture of the 1.3 manifold servo connection, i swear both mine look like theyve been pop-riveted!
-
Ah i see! I think  lol
Pop-riveted? Doesn't sound good!

both me and rubjonny are confused.. it seems!
-
ok i cracked the rivet bit off the top of the old manifold i had sat here, and drilled out the outside of the plug that was in there (you could see a seperate rim in there) but the it got to a point and jsut wont go any firther, its jammed up completely, wont drill wont punch, wotn let notihng through.. not even air
-
 i had a fair share of 1.3's before i could afford a valver but i'm bugg£r£d on this one dude! :undecided:
-
ill shoot a photo down into the drilled hole, see what can see, ill have to go look at the old engine, that might have something of a clue in the mani on that one come to think hmm hmm!

so cofnusing, you can see it gets a distance, then is jsut solid, and will not go any further for beans, a total blockage
-
get a new manifold.....
-
both manifold are the same chap
thats the confusing thing..
-
was it working beforehand? if so just wack the undrilled one on and dont worry about it!
-
nah it didnt, this is the problem, they both seem to have the same blockage per se, about 1cm down, one ive now tried to unblock but faile,d the other one is bolted on to the engine and the third is bolted to the old engine, still
-
if its blocked with metal tho that would suggest to me that its meant to be that way, a blanking plug if you will, i dont know to be honest, are u sure your looking at the right connector? cos wen i had a 1.3 there was a couple of redundant attachmenty type things similar to your pictures on the manifold but i cant remember exactly wat they did cos it was a few years ago lol we are talking inlet arent we?
-
Aye we are, and aye i'm looking at the right one.. now ehres the silly bit
I go to ym grandparents where te old engine is sat.. stick a bit of wire down the servo pipe, down, down, down, uhoh...
It was fully open all the way through, slightly oval hole and filed on top, its obviously ahd its blanking removed sometime.
The engine in atm, is form a H reg polo 1.3 (1990 one of the final ones like..)
The 3rd manifold I had, came with the weber i had to buy due to the pierberg needing the usual refurb job..
so the spare mnifold obviously came from a polo to, lo and behold me and my dad removed the rivet, and one open servo vacuum pipe..
But i'm jsut going to transfer the original manifold over I think.. thing is, if i unbolt my weber from the manifold and swap it across, even though i'm only swapping pipes and that, it's gonig to be ok tuning wise isnt it? i'm not adjsuting any idling or anything like that.. only swithcing a few bolts across?
-
should be fine then dude u can always tune it afterwards at a garage wont cost much!
-
i had hoped against that, as it was onlt tuned up around about 2 weeks ago :undecided:
as i say, i expected either direct bolt on to exact same manifold unblocked, or exact same design manifold, unblocked previous, would be ok, hmm..I guess i'll soon find out..
but thats wher ei got the diea, i'm not adjsuting any timing, mixture, idling, anything like that at all.. so I can't see ot being too bad!
possibly i could remove the pre heater from underneath and knock out the rivet through the hole elft there.. im starting tot hink aloud
-
I'll try and take a photo for you later on ok? If you tell me what you want to see, and where it is
-
looking at the car face on, top right hand side of the carb, should be a pipe come out on an angle o a small valve, if you take the pipe off, theres a thin pipe coming off the manifold, farthest one round, after 2 coolant pipes, its the third one, just want a shot of the top of it, where the opening is
-
Ok, i'll try tomorrow ok :)
-
To be honest, i cant see what you mean! Have a look at these two pictures, and see if i'm in the right place!?

next one around mae, its hidden up the back there! it should be alright now though, as we found an unblocked one, thanks anyrate dude
-
Ok, at least i was in generally the right place anyway!
