Title: Door Lock receiving bolt question
Post by: jaybv6 on 29 September 2006, 08:13
I've notice that my Driver's door doesn't always close properly, it seems as if the door has dropped a few mm.  However on closer inspection I have noticed that the receiving bolt for the door lock seems to be missing a plastic collar.

Question is can these collars be bought seperately?  Also would the absence of this collar be the cause of the irregular shutting of my door.

Not all mine have the plastic collar on them and they all shut fine, is the lock well lubricated ?

The doors drop over time anyhow, it is nothing to worry about.

the plastic lug on the bolt jsut stops the bolt rattling in the hinge. you can buy new bolts of ebay for £12 a pair

as for door drop there is a link somewhere on how to correct this. basically you just stick a wheel stud in the bottom hinge of the door like so /*\ and gently pull the door tight. remove bolt and check alignment and keep doing till its inline. if you overcorrect then stick teh wheel stud in the top hinge and it will drop the door ever so slightly
