Hi guys,
Had the dizzy changed on the Jetta - the bearing had gone on the other one as it happens. The cracking condition replacement Valeo part was second hand, and buggered up after turning over once, so we replaced it with another item, the bearing in which is marginally better than the buggered one.
The car now seems to stutter ever-so-slightly on acceleration - I'm not sure if it even has anything to do with the dizzy as it was doing it before the change?
There seems to be a faint 'rubbery' smell too? Idles stuttery too - but I expect that with a not-so-perfect dizzy.
What else do you need to know guys before having a guess?
Thanks.
Si.

In addition, when I accelerate in 3rd for example, it's almost as if something is holding the car back, and then it sort of 'frees up' if you catch my drift?
:undecided:

Id hazard a guees at your ht leads. Pulling them on and off may have damaged one and you are suffering from a missfire.
-
did you setup your ignition timing with a strobe light after?
-
Good point. You ignition timing may be out. never thought of that.

Aye - timing was set and HT Leads are new?
