If the linkage is the same as a gti then just buy a gti kit.

As for tuning i think the best mod is to fit a gti camshaft and exhaust manifold + exhaust.

1.8 linkage is almost the same as a MK2 Golf linkage, so you'll need a MK2 kit.  I think the early MK3 GTIs also had rod change like yours, so a kit for these models will also fit, basically you're after a rod change kit :)

I had a 1.8driver before my gti and I replaced the linkages, clutch arm etc...The driver has an 020 gearbox (green gearbox cap) which apart from ratio's is the same as a Gti 020 box and I have swapped all the new part's from the driver to my gti.. (both car's were 1995 car's driver 1.8abs engine and gti8v ady engine). regarding engine tuning, The driver had a 90bhp engine with single point injection and a good quality (gti8v) full exhaust and a panel filter is really the only option's as the s.p.i is like an electronic carb/1 lonesome injector thing and is very limited in tuning!!
