Title: Rattly in reverse?

Anybody help me my gearbox makes a rattling noise when its in reverse only when moving what could this be? any help I will be greatfull of! its a mk3 2.0 gti 96 model cheers. I'm slowly getting there with me car very expensive mind spent about £2k on it so far and still not even close to being respectable yet!  :sick:
would have been better off giving up on it and gettin another!  :undecided:

sounds like you have a chipped tooth on your reverse gear.  common problem on mk3s and isn't really an issue apart from the noise!  As long as you treat it gently in reverse it shouldnt get any worse, make sure you come to a complete stop before selecting reverse and leve is a second or so before  putting it in gear.  Dont reverse uphill either if you can help it :)
