Title: Engine Swap 8v
Post by: ChrisO GolfO on 26 September 2006, 13:12
Hi there asked many a time I know and did a quick search but couldnt pull up anything I was looking on ebay and saw http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Golf-Mk3-GTi-2-0-8V-engine-2E-code-Mk2-conversion_W0QQitemZ170031585265QQihZ007QQcategoryZ9889QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Wondered if this was any good to fit straight on to my current Post 90 Spec 8v with a PB Engine Code currently sat in it?

would be easier just to source a bottom end from one of those type of engines to be honest. Changing the whole lot conjours up wiring problems etc

I was gonna get the entire engine at that price then just take the bottom end off it and keep head for no reason what so ever lol...

But mainly wanted to know if I was looking at the right engine in the first place which I think I am...

Cheers Neaty

yep the bottom off that engine is the perfect match for your PB head, it will bolt straight on :)
As said, you dont want the whole thing just the bottom end, it will plug straight into your old head and you wont need to mess about with any wiring at all.

What's needed to sort the fueling and ignition timing for this kind of conversion? Does the ecu need to be remapped accordingly?

nope just reset the idle & co as per usual and you're good to go, nothing special is needed to make it work :)
