Just thought I'd share this with you....
I red on here recently that the digi GTI will advance the timing if using higher octane fuel, so after having done 600 miles in my new GTI I thought I'd treat it to some Shell V-Power (or whatever it is) 99 RON fuel today.... and wow what a difference. Its like the old girl has a new lease of life! I also noticed the petrol filler cap sticker says minimum 98 RON on mine...
Try it, you wont look back... although your wallet might regret it! :lipsrsealed:

I run ours on V-Power 99, until our local Mr Tesco decides to start selling some of his finest 99 octane jungle juice.
I have read somewhere that digi's can suffer premeture head gasket failure when not run on 99 though.
Anyway, I think high octane stuff's been done to the death elsewhere on these hallowed pages.

hehe well i did search but came up with mostly 16v stuff... luckily the HG was done last year by previous owner with receipts to prove

Digis will be fine with lower RON petol, as the knock sensor will allow the ecu to detect pinking and retard the ignition timing accordingly. Its 16v & k-jet 8v MK2s you have to worry about, if they arnt setup to run on the lower octane fuel they wont run right.

lol 95ron is 83.9 at tesco and super is 88.9 so everyones a winner.......

I've been using V - Power for a bit now and I do notice a difference although it took a while to feel different, as far as cost goes when I filled my car up from empty with V - Power it cost £3 more than normal unleaded so its not that much more and as you say well worth it !

My 8v used to "stutter" between 3,000 & 4,000 in 5th gear.
Since useing V power fuel that has stopped, car feels more lively and the cost is SFA.
Dont use anything else now (took about 500miles to notice big difference)

i used BP's overpriced crappy 102ron and £2...sumin once
didgi ran like a bag of sh!t tbh. couldnt tell the diffrence
