Title: how do you get the wheels of?
Post by: karllap on 25 September 2006, 20:37
Hi,
Probably a dumbass question but how do you get the centre's of the bbs alloys that you get on a MKIV anniversary?
There are buckles in them where somebody has been trying to prise them of and I don't want to make them worse but
I do need to know in case I get a puncture and need to change the wheel.

Thanks

You need the BBS key.  If it's not in that polystyrene tray that sits inside the spare wheel, then you're gonna have to either get a plastic one from VW or source a metal one from a BBS dealer.

Thanks,
There is a black plastic case thats in the spare wheel centre but its empty, I take it thats where the key is meant to be.

What does it look like?

Thanks

That is the key, mate!

It's grooved on one side & should fit around the grooved part of the centre cap.  You have to push it hard on both ends with each hand, as you turn it, otherwise it will just keep slipping off.
