Title: Side Repeaters?
Post by: Bluefox on 23 September 2006, 21:02
Are these a legal requirement? I'd like them off the wing, but if they're a requirement it might cause problems as to relocation.
Then again, why bother with indicators? Seems like no-one seems to bother these days

Yes they are a VOSA requirement, but it all depends on:-

a. the tester.
b. the year the car was registered.

I "think" if there is nothing there, I.E. remove them and fill the whole, then you don't have to have them, i could be wrong though.

So, what you're saying is, if I took them off and smoothed the hole and they failed it, I couldn't come round yours demanding you to fix it?
Nah, I'll leave it then

i know a lot of people have the holes filled in and secure the witing up out of the way. when it comes to mot time they tape the repeaters onto the wing so it can pass...obviously this is down to the tester...

like lewy says, it depends on whether the car came with them as standard, if it did, u need em (unless u know the tester)
if it didn, still depends on the tester as my blokes friend had to get some fitted, and that didnt come with any standard... :undecided:

oh and everyone should use them cos it annoys the fcuk outta me wen im waitin at a roundabout..

I think Mark 2's you can get away with not having them, albeit it may be that early ones as Uruk Hai implys are excused. My mates Grandad has a C reg Mark 2 "C" so its bog standard which at the time side repeaters were optional I think. He just has "C" badges instead.

you could remove them from the current location on the wing and get some E30 BMW side repeaters.

These are roughly the same size and shape of the front arch piece (the bit that links to the door mouldings)

Ive seen it done and looks eye
