Title: air mass meter

hi,can any of you tell me is the air mass meter the aluminium manifold that is connected to the air filter?ta :smiley:

the air mass meter/maf/afm what ever you want to call it, is usually some where between the airbox (or part of the airbox) and the throttle body on the inlet manifold, it normally has a plug going to it, they can be cleaned with solvent spray if theyre playing up, but mostly there knacked....

would help a tad if you said what model car it was for (mk?/year etc?)

ok im guessin from your other post its a 2ltr 8v??

with out lookin at a pic of the engine bay i couldnt tell you where it is, ive got a 93 vr6 and its on a black plastic pipe inbetween airbox and throttle body, u got any pics of engine??

and why do you want to know where it is?? is there something worng with it etc?

my car wont start and several men have said its the air mass meter,just want to be sure i order the right bit.havent got a pic to show you.

i wouldnt say the air mass meter is the cause of your car not starting, when they fail they can cause over/under fueling etc but it would normally start and run to a point, id look else where with common mk3 problems like coil, ecu relays and fuel pump relays
