Title: Dash display failure
Post by: lowdown on 23 September 2006, 09:08
While I was out driving last light my midline computer display area failed.  It was just displaying a single red horizontal line.

No obvious effects on car performance or anything like that.  The 'good' news is that it has come back to normal, on the down side this may be an intermittant fault, and we all know how difficult they are to fix.

Had a similar thing with my old Audi TT - lost a line of LED's in the central display. Needed a new dash pod unit complete with speedo/rev counter. Luckily it was a warranty job as the unit was about £600 to replace.

Different problems all together.

The golf is normally down to a bad connection between the display and the circuit board, where as the TT is a faulty component.

Easy to fix when you know how but very hard / impossible for the novice.

If you in the North West area I will ( as ever ) fix this fault for free!

PM me if you need my details

Thanks very much for the offer.  I will see if it happens again and sort something out if required.  I'm in the NW area!
