I know this topic has had loads of threads but when parts are refitted (ecu relay etc) to cure bad running and stalling, do you need to get it back on diagnostic machine??
Ive replaced loads and cleaned TB 5 times all to no results. Does it all need re setting.??
Thanks Mark

If you are coming to Elland Road on Sunday I'll get it on a VAG fault code reader, and see if we can find what's up!!

Cheers Spankey, im looking forward to it.

I meant to ask SadVR6, is yours an OBD1 or OBD2? My reader only works on OBD2!
-
How do i find out? :embarassed:

N reg was the change over year. If it's older it's OBD1, if it's newer it's OBD2. But some Nreg were OBD1 some OBD2!
Take a look at the link, this should tell you!

I thought the quick way to do a reset was disconnect the battery for 5 mins. :undecided:
-
Sorry I was going off topic!
Yes, whenever I clean my throttlebody I disconnect the battery for an hour or so then reconnect it and leave the ignition on for 20 mins. This may not be the right way to do it but it works for my car, and it did stop it stalling after I had the hall sender out to clean it!
Maybe I should have just said that in the first place

Cheers guys. Going to take bat off now. Mines an old OBD1 i think. Just had RAC round as it stalled for the first time today, normally just coughs abit, he was GREAT..... NOT!!!!! Just took of plug leads and then told me it was coil, bloody amazing, how the hell do you come to that conclusion by checking HT leads?????
Then spent 15 mins on the phone to a chap in Harrogate who told me it was carbon on mi valves and the head would have to come off...
Id rather set it on fire than pay for someone who hasnt even seen the car, to take the head off..... Anyway Bat is about to be removed, cross ya fingers and il let you all know....
