Title: mk3 1.4 gearbox query...
Post by: -HellRaza- on 18 September 2006, 12:00
hey

just a quick one, my brother stupidly undid this screw from the front of the gearbox in his 1992 1.4i mk3..

now how on earth do you put screw it back in place??!!?.. doesnt want to screw right in, and it also seems to stop you selecting certain gears..?!

any help/advice would be great..

cheers

alex

I think thats the reverse bolt. It looks wonky to me. Try selecting diff gears while screwing it back in.

hey

this is still provng to be an issue, i had a go at screwing it back into place, but found that it wouldnt go in all the way, and when i tried selecting gears i found that i only had 1st, and neutral had become reverse...! .. so that was interesting..!

is there a certain way of doing it? or is it literally just the case of trying to force it into place..? or do i have to select certain gears as i go along..?

any help would be most appreciated..

cheers

Id try contacting a gearbox specialist. Just give them a call and see if they can shed any light on how it works.
