Title: To lower or not ??
Post by: 8vRicey on 16 September 2006, 19:05
I'm a fan of keeping things fairly standard, but I am debating wether to lower or not. Nothing drastic maybe 40mm perhaps, or should i leave my beauty as she is ???  :undecided:

Go with the Eibach 30mm kit, awesome looks and handling.

Speak to Reuben at www.Tuningwerkes.co.uk he'll be able to sort it out for you.

The Eibach springs, they compliment the std shocks a treat.

About 130quid I think, but scour ebay and you'll get them cheaper.

Go for it - like you, I like to keep my one looking original - until 3 of my shocks were leaking and needed replacing so I decided to lower it after all.  After some research and asking around on the forum http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=46577.0 I got Boge Turbogas shocks and the Eibach 35mm lowering springs.

As someone else has said already, the Eibachs go very well with standard shocks and I'd highly recommend them. I fitted mine yesterday and the handling is excellent and ride quality is great to.  All i need to do now - which is happening on monday - is get 4 new tyres and a full camber alignment, that'll make a big improvement.

I'll be sticking some pics up of mine later today probably.

It would be nice to see a before and after side photo if you have them. Probably will do it, when money allows !!!

dude this is mine with koni shocks and eibach -40mm springs, its near identical to your car, its settled a bit since then by about 10mm and is well nice just removes the gap in the arch between the tyre and the arch. looks cool and handles well nice with no tramlining.

piece of piss take you half a day, a couple of spanners, a haynes manual and a spring compressor (not expensive!)

Alright mate, I've got a set of Eibach springs which were on my car for just over a year for sale if you want em?

Around about the 40 note mark?  Ish

Btw, if you want it to really handle well, get yourself some Koni dampers to go with the Eibach springs. One of THE BEST setups for a Goof

I would love to mate, but ive got road tax at the end of the month and it's in the garage on wed for new rear shocks. shame really as it would of been ideal to fit them at the same time !
