Title: My MK4 Golf GTi 1.8t(anniversary edition)
Post by: pinkdots on 16 September 2006, 11:22
Hi,
Ive had a bit of a problem with my Golf, the battery light was staying on with a warning message "alternator workshop" so I took it to the dealer (who are a bit dodgy) just been done for charging customers with work they havent done! anyway they came back to me and said i couldnt have my car back due to the fear of it going on fire, anyway to cut a long story short they said it was the maxi fuse box wire that had melted running off the alternator and according to them it is a common problem with golfs?

So i was just wondering if anybody else has had similar problems as Im no overly convinced they have even done anything apart from now break my one touch on my electric windows!! im so mad

Thanks

I havent, well yet anyway and mines a 1999. Not even mentioned in the mk4-common fault thread so get it to a specialist who will take care of it.
