Looking to buy a Mk5 GTI second hand towards end of the year .
Been keeping my eye on autotrader website to see what's about (not that much as it turns out).
So, where else should I be looking?
-
try as many Vee Dub forums as possible
ones i know of are
www.edition38.com/forums
http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/default.aspx
and this one of course
i think there are one or two up for sale on the mkivs site :undecided:
Hope that helps

Excellent!
Thanks very much. This means I can spend even more of my time on the internet looking at cars .

I'm selling my Mk5 GTI but I need it gone within the next 2/3 weeks...
-
Thanks for the offer, but looking to buy around early December really. If it's not sold by late November-time, maybe you could let me have details about the spec?
Thanks again.

illyun really looks after his car - prob a 1 in a million motor!

go look at volkswagen uk's website, lists every single gti for sale at each dealer. your local dealer will ship it in if your interested in it.

Sounds good - got my heart set on one with DSG though.  Also, really not in a position to buy for a good few weeks due to work commitments.

Had been looking there but didn't realise that VW would ship them to your locality - thanks for the tip.
The ones on the VW website seem to be a bit overpriced, but I'd like to think they'd knock a fair few quid off with a bit of haggling. :undecided:

Dsg is the way to go

thanks for the vote of confidence Doc

Slight plug (so hope that's alowed):I got mine from Ross at Burcham Car Sourcing - takes all the hassle out of buying a new car (and trading in your existing one if need be). He has sourced a couple of GTIs and my testimony is on the website. More info here - http://www.burchamcarsourcing.com/

been looking for a second hand one for a while now!, with the car holding it's value so well, have decided to buy new early next year. waiting and hoping that VW will increase the bhp next year!. At end of the day for me the choice was a second hand one with dsg or brand new with manual, really no choice, got to be new one!!!.....I think?!!?
-
I made exactly the same choice Pat, but mine is on order....
-
I have to say, I'm still undecided regarding manual or DSG. I really think I need to have a decent test drive of both. Also, been looking at buying new from a car supermarket that does imports - a lot cheaper than the main dealers. Anyhow, need a new car in December, so going to have to make a choice at some point soon. :undecided: (obviously won't be a factory built one, 'els I'll be carless for months :embarassed:).

if you guys are spending 23grand on a new motor with low extra spec, why dont you get a 1 yr old05-55 reg with high spec , more toys etc for the same money, you will loose at minimum 3 grand driving it off the fore court, thats why i spent £23000 on a 05 fully loaded dsg with 5000 miles, run in, . i could sell it tommorow without loosing money on it, brand new valued at £27000 if bought new.

I hear ye Phil. I know nearly new makes most financial sense - and means more toys
