Tidy :)
You do all the install work yourself?
-
yep. I borrow next door's jigsaw and get to work :)
I still need to hide those wires by the cap and get some perspex windows in there and neons to light it up. There's also a little gap between the boxes that could do with filling.
I think my alternator is about to kark it though. the amps are complaining there's 11v of juice instead of the usual 14v there should be ??? Will investigate in the light

Looking good mate. Maybe time for new alternator. How many farad cap is that? It maybe that the cap needs time to charge and then start pumping out the 14v. ??? Not sure.

dizzie can u show me the top bit above the cap where it meets the parcel support shelfs as i still cant work away of doing that and making it look good
-
a mate of mine powered his huge install but attaching a seperate alternator. It was basically 2 alternators stuck together, one for the car and the other for the audio.
He used an electric motor referb company (where i used to work) to make him a seperate alternator.
Anyone else tried this?
-
I've gotta see what voltage is across the battery first. It's a 1 farad cap. but the amp can suck 51AMPS on peak :o I think I'll just have to keep it moderate unless I need to drive through town or something ;D
-
Optima red top battery may help out. They are more of a deep cycle battery. Never heard of a dual alternator setup but i can see how it would work. Might be able to use A/C brackets and pulleys to make it fit on. Probably better off just getting an alternator re-wound to pump out a few more amps. :) One of the people I work with was having a similar problem with the system in his car. He has 2 kicker solo-baric L7's running off of an audiofonix 2400watt amp. Too much bass for me. Makes the whole car rattle. lol

nice install mate . got an idea for you why not go for a diesel alternator and battery . mate of mine done it and worked a treat :D
-
unfortunally I'm hoping never to have a flat....

May i recommend AA? :) I guess if you have to get at it you can. Just a pain in the a55 is all.
-
I haven't carried a jack or wheel brace for the last 2 1/2 years ;D
I found one in the scrappy the other day and bought it for ?4. Just in case. Trouble is if a front has a flat I've got to move a tyre from the rear cos the space saver won't go over a 280mm disc >:(
-
lol ;D. strap a spare wheel to the roof and start a new trend. :P
-
my 8v has soo much room in the engine bay. why couldnt VW put the spare in that >:(
-
I'm thinking about using a bonnet lifter to lift my false floor somehow. easy to get the spare out. not that I get it out much ;)
-
now that you have 17's there is no point you having a spare that is smaller than a 17" rim. it is illegal to have an odd size rim on the car.
Ditch the spare Dizzy! ;D
-
well if I'm pulled over I'll say there's nothing under there and it takes ages to remove all the amps to lift the floor. just in case of an emergency it'll get me home. Only downside is if the flat is on the front I have to swap one off the back as the spacesaver won't go over the G60 discs on the front >:(
-
ive heard tyre weld is quite good as an emergency
-
I've heard tyre weld is a b1tch to clean out the tyre if you want to get the thing repaired though - just call the AA out and get them to fix it or tow you home
