i dont know much about the differences between them but asthetically i prefer the g60 enlighten me please if im being a pillock! :embarassed:
-
g60 synchro in a regular golf body but u aint got that option....
but the ultimate is the golf limited........
i do want a rallye tho with a passion.....
-
well the g60 is more of a sleeper as it looks more stanard, and as it is front wheel drive it has less loss through transmission. both rock! i prefer a rallye though and if i could find a shell........
-
does no one else think that the rallye is the ugliest golf? i mean yes its rare and yes its capable but why is it also ugly as sin? are the two as fast as each other?
-
nah rallye's rule! its the "ugliness" i like about them!!
-
yep definately rallyes rule its not just about the looks its the pedigree. bet you wouldnt say no if someone offered you one. besides they look hard as fook with the right wheels on........
-
would take a g60 over a Rallye i think...
I love the straight cut mk2 body work, not the flared arches.
but that's my opinion
:nerd:
-
your right, if someone offered it to me Iwould say yes but by the same token if I was given the choice it would be a g60. It looks great, think of it as a toss up between claudia schiffer and brum hilda the rallye reminds me of a bratworst scoffing, beer swiling, german tank woman of a car and the g60 is just sooo much nicer still german but nice german. is there any difference in power?
-
mate i must be a s.l.u.t cos i would have both either way g60 or rallye lol
not sure on power difference tho, prob none
-
power? any difference?
-
I'm a s.l.u.t too! Just give me either......
-
rallyes have nova arches
-
gotta be a rallye for me im afraid, its the pedigree again, and the raw essence of it that says dont even bother tryin when some boy racer pulls up in a nova nxt to you! sorta car youd go driving every night just to put everyone else in there place love them
-

i drive my golf like that anyway lol
-
I'd have to say the G60. Quicker than the rallye in standard, and have a couple of mates with Rallyes and they seem to always have hassles around the 4WD.
-
yeah i drive my valver like that too mr veedub 8v! lol i cant rely help it, jus seems appropriat
-
now now kids lets not start dissin each others rides we know gtis are all the bollox well mayb mk3 and 4s accepted but no dissin on mk 2s please oh and yes mines an 8v
-
G60 RULES!!!
-
Rallye all day long, and no there is no difference in power. Although i would rather have my cheeky little red mk2 as it's quicker than all the production models and still N/A
-
the Rallyes are way way way better looking..if it wasn't for the silly square lights, the arches look better the whole car just looks 'hard'!
Have seen a few with the round lights fitted, they look awsome!
G60 for performance thou, whats the point of having lots of power and blowing your gearbox up if you want to launch it often!
-
Id rather have an Edition 1 G60. That purple colour, mmmmm. Was offered one the other day, the offer still stands actually but insurance would be a night mare and on an island where you can only do 35 its a total waste.
I love the rallyees because of what they are, and those arches do make them stand out, but i prefer the normal mk2 shape. Sleeper all the way
-
I keep hearing about these edition 1 cars wat the hell are they?
-
See sig. Thankyouplease.
-
One of these...

-
wat a bloody nice car mate how clean is that? wat power is it and wat you done to it, looks amazing!
-
I prefer the G60 myself, prefereably with a LSD.

-
i am not picky, give me either
-
G60 for me
-
I think a nice and low G60 on the customary BBS splits look sh!t hot but at the end of the day a Rallye is a Rallye. I want one before I am 30, black preferably
-
16V limited or a 16v oettinger everytime, maybe in a Rallye shell :) I mean a g60 or a Rallye still ain't got enough valves!
Surely the g60 has more power at the wheels than a Rallye as it doesn't have the loss of the 4wd system? I thought g60's were FWD?
-
standard form the G60 should be quicker in a straight line with all the 4wd of the rallye and everything slowing them down, but lets be honest there arent that many rallyes that havn't been tweaked or heavily modified with 20vt's etc
-
surely the same can b said for the g60 i am talking factory spec m8. how much would a mint g60 be nowadays?
-
it's highly unlikely any mk2s are mint. there is always something wrong with them.
It's actually really frustrating when a car is said to be mint when it's 15 years old and been driven 120k!
-
yea i know i bought my "mint" mk2 8v in may for 1250 no history but very clean and un modded but with 123 k on it! why havent people just put them in sheds so people like you and me can buy them 15 years on and thrash the living sh** out of them?
-
I love the squareness of the Rallye, it's just such a sexy (METAL!) bodykit!
-
surely the same can b said for the g60 i am talking factory spec m8. how much would a mint g60 be nowadays?
yea true, i dunno why they only put the G60 in the rallyes tbh, surely something like the 16v limited engine would be better.
-
The rallye was originally built for the vr6, but VW couldn't finish the VR lump in time to release the rallye so the G60 was used instead
-
oh really?! well i never knew that. check out mr dizzie with the knowledge.
could you use engines over 2.o in world rallye at that time? or did it not matter what engine was in for homogulation?
-
have many people fitted them with vr6 lumps? to wat effect?
-

A really nice example of a standard factory spec G60 Edition One for example can fetch anywhere between 4-5k as a rough guide
The Edition One's and syncro's are obviously worth a premium over a standard G60 in the same condition. Its finding them which is now becomming quite a challenge.
In a recent trip to Italy a Royal Blue G60 was parked up abandoned at the side of the road with only 91000km (60'000 miles) with splits and factory leather - I nearly cried.
Lee.
-
Have to say that I appreciate the look of the Rallye but I prefer the sleeper looks of the G60.
The G60 will have less to go wrong, and will weigh less.
Money no object? I'd have the G60 Limited, 16v Supercharged Engine and 4wd in a standard small bumper body. Sweet.
Mind you, having any of those cars would mean having to drive left hook, which I'd be a bit weary of. But it's the price you pay for joining the G60/Rallye owning elite.
Anyone know why the Corrado G60 is available as a RHD when the Golf wasn't ?
-
i quite like the thought of having a left hand drive car, porb just for the novelty of it! :undecided:
-
yea the limited is by far the best but that was a limited run ubber golf you couldn really pop down the dealer and expect to find one it wasnt even built in the same factory so unfortunately it doesnt count as there werent significant numbers built anyone know exactly how many?
-
Only 71 Limiteds were made, so only a handful are in the UK.

73 IIRC
-
73 indeed and am I right in thinking that only 2 were 3 door, one is written off and the other is in a museum, wolfsburg i presume. Was it 3 door or was it rhd, i cant remember
-
exactly so not many people know wat there like to drive (am sure amazing!) has anyone driven one on here?
-
someone called (clair) G6dub who now has a white caddy that u may have seen used to have one
-
wat did she say it was like?
-
i dunno, never spoke to her tbh , was before my time when she had it. Have always known of her to have that caddy. some of the longer standing members maybe able to comment though

-
i just love the way it looks so subtle thats the great thing about gtis they dont shout about theyre performance wat engine does it have?
-
any ideas where it lives now if it still lives???
-
i think at one point her and her other half had one each?
-
g60 all the way. standard looking with a kick in the tail!!!!!
-
JESUS they must have some luck and plenty of notes im sure any ideas wat they change hands for?
-
10k
-
thats if you can find someone who's prepared to sell theirs! Im sure if any of us had one we would sell our families before we sold it! I bloody would!
-
true cars always come first dont they?
