Was checking oil temp on way home last night and after a particularly hard and fast bit of driving it read 100.
Now it did need a little top up and I put in about half a litre maybe.
So checking this morning the highest I saw was 94. The norm being 88.
So should I be looking for any reasons for this?
The high temp was just after I'd done 110 mph in 4th uphill, holding it there to pass some cars before the end of a dually!

That is fine mate, my VR6, when being driven hard, uphill etc can run up to 102, normal 98! I used to have a mk2, 2litre 16v, ABF engined Golf that (in traffic) used to run at around 114, wich concerned me, but the handbook said not to worry unless it goes above 150 ! Don't worry about it, just make sure you keep an eye on the oil and keep it topped up!what model is it?

Its a 97 P reg 16 valve. Think its the ABF engine.
Its not due an oil/filter change for about another 3000 miles so was wondering if I should be looking at say the oil cooler.
But from what you say then I wont bother for now.
