Title: Golf Mk3 16v Rear Brake caliper removal
Post by: mxbb on 04 September 2006, 21:07
I've been trying to undo the 8mm Allen bolt that holds the rear caliper on (I need to change the disc's/pads for the MOT) and the bugger wont move, even tried a 2ft pipe to lever the Allen key and that didn't work.

Any ideas ??????

You will need an allen key on a socket, and use a breaker bar.
Make sure the allen key socket is hammered right in.
A little tip, try tightening the bolt very slightly and then undoing it, this may help it come free as it is seized.
Be warned though, these bolts are tight, and on the mk3 have loctite on them, so you may need to hammer in a torx/spline bit if the bolt rounds off.
If you can, just change the pads for the MOT, alot simpler
