left my mk2 8v for days, when i got home took about 10 min drive to clear the unresponsiveness from the engine - has been a wet weekend so am just guessing was v cool and a bit damp.....would you agree...??
Sounded v chuggy when pullled up at junction and slow acceleration ( like i was trying to pull away in 5th... )

sounds to me like it is damp, although I'm no expert! Does it stop when it warms up? mybe need to change plugs, lead etc..

Nah it didnt cut out, bt felt close to it once....I have only had it for about 6 weeks so this was the first time it had been left for more than a day without starting, although after a downpour it can take 2 turnovers to fire up - is it worh replacing the distributor and leads/plugs now ready for the winter??

Doubt the while dizzy will need replaced. Try the cap and rotor arm first!
take the dizzy cap off and av a look see. Squirt with WD40 see if that helps. check for cracks. Check for scoring/sh|t on the rotar arm and contacts on the cap.
