Title: Brake master cylinder
Post by: Big T on 31 August 2006, 09:50
Could someone please tell me if there is a difference between the 8v and 16v master cylinder, as I need to replace my one on my 8v and there have been a couple of 16v ones appear on ebay?

Someone said to me there is a possibility that fitting the 16v one would increase braking power. Is this true? If so, is it a straight fit?

Cheers,

T

Later 16V M/Cs are 22mm to match the bigger 256mm brakes. Lots of folk fit the bigger M/C on their 8V and Drivers but it's a bit swings and roundabouts. Apparently you need less effort but the pedal travels further. Which you either like or you don't. As for stuff on Ebay, well if it's not new I'd leave it alone, you've no idea what state its in. If it's new I'd do a bit of research first as you can pay more on Ebay than at GSF or ECP. They're around £30 from GSF IIRC.

Cheers for that. I agree, if it's not brand new then I wont touch it.
