Hey there
When my car is still and running there's a clicking kind of noise coming from near the cambelt..
also when i acccelerate through the gear, it whines like a supercharger but bit louder...
Just hoping it's nothing major as i'm dong a 200 mile rund trip to e38 onm saturday/sunday.
If anyone can enlighten me?!
Cheers

Take the cover off and have a look.

Any of the belts like alternator or PAS belt been changed recently? They could have been overtightened. Bit like mine

An overtight timing belt makes a sort of whining noise which changes pitch as you rev the engine. Shouldn't tighten itself though, it would only be a problem if the belt has only just been changed. Could also be the tensioner. My old knackered one was making all sorts of peculiar noises.

It might be the bearings in your tensioner, 1st thing I'd do is loosen the PAS & alternator belts a tough, see if the noise goes away. If not, loosen the cam belt slightly, you should be able to twist it 90 degrees at the longest point if its an 8v, and a bit less if its a 16v!
I'd shove a new tensioner on there at the same time!

My cambelt tensioner screeched a fair bit, even though it's clearly pretty new. So I gave it a dose of WD40 on the off chance and it's quiet as a mouse now. I'll be fitting a new one soon just in case as the tension was too high so I guess the bearing in it will be bu**ered.
Barkstar :nerd:

Right loosened the bugger off, no longer does it make a uspercharged sound! waheyyy!
But the clicking/rollnig noise still happens. But it shall be booked in for a cam belt change/tensioner when i get back from e38.
