I use a couple of coats of black hammerite paint over all the underside, cover brake lines in waxoil, spray waxoil inside the box sections and all over rear beam around fuel pump behind rear valance etc, then this time of year brush on a light coating of waxoil onto the floor pan sill edges etc, found this method works well,it is easily removed with white spirits or petrol if need to do any work.Just give it all a good wire brush first, done this method on both my mk2`s and had no probs..dont like usual underseal stuff myself due to being thick and permanantly tacky,I did enquire about the original type of underseal at my local bodyshop but they said it was very expensive and due to the cost only usually used on insurance jobs around ?20 for a silicone sized tube..

love the car oakie ;)
Does underseal come in spray cans?

thanks Blue2 :)yep it comes in all types applications,I find the best approach is to use waxoil in the pump action kits you can buy from motor shops they cost around ?25 but the can needs a good heating to melt the stuff first,or it wont spray,I have used the black underseal b4 but I found that if the surface wasnt 100% rust free then it could still rust away underneath but that was on a ford though :'( but if you are as sad as me and powerwash sponge the underside of the car ever so oft in this weather all the underside is a nice glossy finish when you use black hammerite paint so is as easy as cleaning your car bodywork, just a good wirebrush and slap it on stays as good as new bit of a crappy job but its worth it in the long run :)
