Title: plastic body trim help
Post by: chrutchy on 28 August 2006, 00:37
the trim on my mark 3 is badly faded cos the last owner didnt look
after it properly and maintain it

is there any way i can bring it back to black or is it a case of
buyin new trim.

ive tried the usual bumper shine stuff but it dont seem to work and wondered if
any of you guys have any little tips on how to sort it

cheers

T-Cut do some bumper and trim restoration stuff, haven't used it but going by their other products it should be good.

u wnt some of that stuff with a black colour in it, for starters, then u just need to look after it! i'm not sure what other brands do, but workin for motorworld, the onyl one i ave in my excuse for a branch which has black in it, is a carplan one - under t-cut name i think but i cnt say how good it is, as i generally shy away from carplan/t-cut

my bumpers were grey when i got them, and i've used the green autoglym bumper care, gave it a good treatment and  buffed it off a few times so it had lods on, and gradually its come up a treat!

Ive also heard that if you go over it quickly with a blowtorch (or somthing similar) that this makes them black again. Never tried it tho so dont kno if it actually works.
