Hi guys.
I'm new to Golfs, and have recently purchased a big bumper '91 mk2 GTI 8v. I'm guessing thats the Digi version?
anyway, some questions if i can....
- i sometimes see this expression used: "mk2 golf gti 8v pb engine". what does the "pb" bit stand for?
- how many miles before a cam belt change?
- what are the other settings on the MFA? i've worked out Time, MPG, Av Speed, Miles Covered, Oil Temp, Outside Temp, i'm guessing if i slide the lever from position 1 to 2 on the wiper stalk, i get other commands like electronic RPM counter? (saw that somewhere on the forums) what are the sprung loaded 0 positions for?
thanks!!  :embarassed:

Hi mate,
The MFA are correct for what you have seen.. they are just two different "trip" positions and holding to the corresponding slide acrosss 0 position resets the trip.
I was told 40,000 for a cam belt change.
hope this helps -I have not seen the "pb" before
welcome by the way

pb is the engine code for identification purposes. eg a 16v engine is a KR.
the mfa has two settings one is reset when the engine is switched off, the other is doesn't reset until you reset it (position 2).
there is also a secret menu as described herehttp://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=27772.0 that has other readouts

As I recall there were 3 different Engine's and PB was the later one with a few extra horses in it... Your right in thinking its a Digi
Good luck with it... Really wanted to take my E38 but no Tax and Insurance
Will be there in my Mk4 tho
