right i wana up rate my speakers in my golf mk3 but need 2 o what sizes i have 2 buy and do i need adpter plates n that

The size is 165mm for the main speakers in the doors, I just got some Blaupunkt GTx 173s they fitted straight in, although you'd need an amp for those. Have a look on Blaupunkt's site http://www.blaupunkt.com/uk/infoservices_4.asp, they have a car configurator which will tell you all of the speakers that will fit.  :smiley:

The Woofers from any 17cm/6.5" component set will fit straight into the existing door pods (although you may need to break off some small bits of plastic that help locate the OEM speakers.  Tweeters will require a bit of work to fit under the dash grilles, but some 6mm MDF, a jigsaw and some trial and error sorted me out there  :grin:  I can take a photo or two if you like.

Same story for the woofers in the rear doors, but I would guess the tweeters would require more effort since there's a bit less space to play with.
