Title: head unit wont go into the slot enough - mk2 problem?

hi all :smiley:

for some reason i cant get my head unit to fit properly, it sticks out 2cm ish, do i need to flatten the metal bracket thats behind the dash and in the way (sorry for the vague descriptopn, can take pics in the light) but i reckon my head units normal so other peeps must have this problem :laugh:

you sure it's not just all the wiring in the way that is stopping the unit from fitting further in?

Yeah it'll be the wiring and the ISO blocks. I had this problem and had to try and push the iso blocks to one side instead of straight back. It'll go in but it is a bit awkward.

if you take the head unit out, u'll c a metal bracket. Screw driver and hammer hit it out. Problem solved hu will slide in perfectly

ok... er... big... problem

BOLLOCKS :cry:

not getting any power going to the hu or the interior light and a fuse aint gone... so erm... looks like ive got some rewiring to do :angry:

anyone got any ideas on this or is this just a take all the dash out and find the damaged wires? didnt touch the positive to the neg so not sure how its happened :huh:

id use a multimeter to trace the currents down the wires, see if u got a break somewhere and track it back to the fusebox, i had to make my own wiring from scratch for my mk2 but if u can get ur head around the wiring u should b alright.

as for the metal bracket.. dont remove it, the hole in the middle of it is supposed to sit the rubber bung on the back of the head unit so that it is fitted firmly and wont skip and jump so much, it also stops u trapping wires!
