Title: air filter problems
Post by: NUG on 25 August 2006, 21:41
just fitted a new induction pipe and filter to my 2000(w)1.8t ,the trouble is there is a breather pipe which comes off the hard pipe and it tells me in the instructions that it needs to connect to an inlet pipe close to the dip stick, there is no pipe there to connect up to,so for the time being i have blanked it off.when driving the car it does not sound very loud and when come off the revs to change gear you can hear a flutter noise like a dv but it has no dv and it idles funny.so what is my problem please help

what induction kit are you fitting?? you have to have taken the breather pipe out of the old box, small ish pipe just under the bit where the maf sensor connects to the standard air box, it runs along the front of the engine and prob half way up the side where the air box goes.

i got it off ebay, its a stainless hard pipe with a k&n style filter, and there is a breather pipe on it but the origional air box does not.   i have put the origional air box back on and it is running fine.
