They are one of my favourite cars ever, they look so subtle, the ultimate wolf in sheeps clothing for me. It's not oak green though. Oh yeah, and it's been converted to RHD. Why do people do that ? He says he's still got all the bits, but they should never ever be modded IMO.
-
My thoughts also gibby. What do you all recon as to the value of such a car?
-
hmmm is it a real one? blue trim grille is missing, and those catch tanks don't look to oem?
-
Must admit i thought that too.
-
i cant get on ebay at work
theres a site that gives a very good history on the cars and even says where each one is now by production number...does this one have the vw motorsport plate on it?
EDIT: found it...

rhd and tasteless enginebay mods, dont like it :undecided:
-
I wonder who did the RHD conversion

I reckon so, it does look like one and there is blue trim missing in some of the photos but the first one (next to the mag cover pic) on the ride hand side has the blue grille. Also, he'd have done well to get the limited plate on it if it wasn't real. :undecided:

I reckon people would pay 10k for one of these easy.
RHD conversion just kills it for me it really does. I have no desire to buy it (ok, desire, but not the cash), but when I read it and it said it had been converted to RHD I felt positively deflated !

4 door
-
it mentions that the car has a different grill on one of the pics :nerd:
'Dress Down Kit - Also available, at an additional cost, is what I have termed the “Dress-Down KitÂâ€Â. See the photos taken of the car adjacent to water. This kit comprises a set of BBS RA 15†alloys with four matching BF Goodrich tyres with plenty of tread and special “VW Motorsport†centre caps, a standard single headlight grill, A 10-disc Sony dual remote control CD changer, which runs through the original 1990 head unit via an FM modulator, stealth rear sound shelf with good Alpine speakers, rubber VW car mats to protect the carpets, custom made drivers seat cover, a bonnet bra and Armoured Door Plates for all doors.
:nerd:
-
Other than the rhd, that is stunning and only on 49k
-
I think this could make big bucks as its a truly "rare car" and a bit of VW history but those mods , if it was me I'd have to put it back to factory spec apart from the right hand drive conversion which I would leave as it is. Nice car though and to me the pinnacle of production MK2's, wish I had the loot to get it !
-
Actually read the ad this time. It's a very tidy looking example of a truly rare car, As has already been said the biggest problem being the RHD conversion, how could they?!
Still, bet it flys with that many miles under it's belt...just getting to it's sweet spot
-
jv, thats the same one thats featured in that magazine with the rallye. again great car just shouldn't have been messed with. although i guess its mostly reversable.
-
the link doesn't work for me. if it's the one that was in the mag with Jody's rallye I've met the guy that owned it and looked around the car.
-
Link for ebay says it is no longer an item
But i think i know the one you mean
-
Might have sold elsewhere.
-
Given how often you see one of those for sale i would guess someone with the money went "Yep I'll have that!" I know i would have done..... :undecided:
-
No, it's back on again, and already up to £7,500!
-
According to someone on that 'other' forum  it was converted to RHD by RA Design and i guess its been sold as they have gone bust. Which incidentally was a damn shame as i wanted some of their wide steelies

if there's ever a definition of a street speeler that's it.
