Hi,ÂÂÂ
New owner here, can some one tell me what alloys i have on the car and any reccomendations for new ones, thinking BBS split rims, is it best to keep to 15" and lastly what psi should i running on current wheels, running 26 all round at the moment.

Welcome to the site. I think that they are estorils. BBS split rims are really nice wheels but they are quite common ! There's a few wheel geeks on here that will be able to tell you all about them. I think the BBS RM's are nice but you pay a premium for them. As for the psi, I put 30 into mine all round running 195/50/15 tyres.
Don't go higher than 15s on a mk1 if you want my opinion as it just doesn't look right, 15's max but if you want to go low and stubby then you could always slam it and put some chunky 13s or 14s on. :smiley: I think that 15's would be best for yours as it's not lowered.

like gib said, dont go max than 30 all round..im actually runnin 26 as my wheels were too hard, but i do need to look into my suspension set up.
bbs do look gud, but as said, are gettin abit common..
theres also styledynamix you could look at (bit dearer thou)
just don't get mine, or i'll be p!ssed..(not the ones in my sig) :smiley: :laugh:
did see sum modern lines on a cab in leeds and they suited.. :smiley: just depends on what you like, what style your going for and how much your willing to spend. :smiley:

Thanks for the welcome. Anyone put ats cups on a cabby? Thinking long term while its stored for the winter, i intend next summer to add a few bits. been suggested to put an Apex suspension kit on it new wheels and probably a full exhaust system from the manifold back, used to have a TTR with a milltek kit sounded lovely, any suggestions for exhausts and other engine tuning mods.

ATS cups have been done to death on mk1s and so have Ronal Turbos and if I had the choice I would go for Ronals. I got a fairly cheap set of spring and shocks from Euro Car Parts and they are sound, it's called the Streetline kit if they still do it. It's got Bilstein gas shocks and Ventura (they supply springs for Eibach apparently :wink: ). It cost me about £120 about 18 months ago and it gives a 40mm drop. If you want a good static setup as opposed to coilovers then Eibach springs and koni shocks are ruputably a good combination.
A full exhaust system from the manifold back is going to cost as the manifold and downpipe will add to the cost. I've got a powerflow on mine from the downpipe back and that was expensive enough. :shocked:
As for other tuning mods, it's up to how much you want to spend as you could put in an engine conversion if you like, but start off with a K&N panel filter and an exhaust for now, then look into other mods. I think you can do almost anything, it depends on how big your pockets are. I'm not sure if you can do this on k-jets, but a 2ltr bottom end seems to be a good mod that gives you a load more torque. :grin: After that then I guess you could put another cam on and maybe even bore it out. Get your cash out ! :laugh:

ive got a full powerflow exhaust system, with 3" tail (looks better than a 2" like *cough* gibbys *cough* :laugh:) cost about £300..i actually have the cat still on mine so thats gonna be gettin pulled off and a new pipe put on..
same opinion as gib with ats n ronals..must be a northern thing chuck?! :grin:
dunno about suspension as i need to sort mine out too...but that also depends on what size wheels your goin for..the smaller the wheel, the bigger the drop or else it will look cack..
mine is also being stored over winter..how are you actually storing it?!

Lucky enough to have a garage at the top of my drive dinx, but will still have to cover it as its a wee bit dusty in there. Only thinking of going for 15" rims and not looking to drop it too much, just dont like the way the front sits high. Just had the engine tuned, timing, fueling etc.... and had a full geometry done which made a huge change to the way the car handled, the front wheels were pointing in to each other by 23mm which in degrees i'd imagine was huge, like a snow plough. So to sum up £300 all is very good will enjoy another few weeks and then lock it up and start saving for may next year!

Platin P30. £650. Not seen many around with these wheels. Found that www.dubmeister.co.uk was slightly cheaper but styledynamix is down the road for me.
BBS are too common. BBS RM splits are the best lookers but cost a bomb on ebay.
But alloys are a personal choice so get what eva u want.
I have got a supersprint system. Sounds sweet and not too loud. I was going to buy a powerflow but I heard that powerflow systems can be too loud and blow. But depends on the fitter and the person making the system.

watch what you cover it with though as some can cause the paint to lift..there are special three layer covers you can get but when i was pricing them, the good ones were starting at about £200..
Do you regularly turn it over?! and what not?
I have to say that that was one of the reasons i went for a powerflow, because it was quiet, will probs differ when the cat comes off like. Once you have choosen your system and tail, they do it all and then leave the car up so you can actually have a look at their work incase your not happy with it.They also came with a guarantee and you are meant to take it back per year just so they can check on it, least thats what happened when i had mine done :smiley:

Dinx, only had the car 3 weeks so everything is new to me but i guess i should turn it over every couple of weeks? Its also got a clifford all singing and dancing alarm with prox sensor would i need to trickle charge the battery? anything essentials i need to now about storing the car?

well my battery died a few times wen i had her off the road next yr, so wasn sure whether to just take it off anyway.. :undecided:
if your plannin on using your alarm then yeah, your gonna have to keep the battery charged.
if possible, keep the handbrake off, couple o bricks behind ya wheels o summit..
also will have to keep an eye on your brakes so that they dont sieze..
im not sure whether its worth drainin the water and wot not..think it just depends on how your storing the car..
