Title: Whats that noise?
Post by: Pimpster on 29 December 2003, 13:18
I've got a funny noise coming from under my car.

It happens when i release the handbrake and start to move after the car has been standing.

Now i think its the Handbrake cable or the brakes sticking which isnt a major issue.

However up to now it has only happened when i used it in the morning after a night standing. Today though i was in work 3 hours, came out and used the car and it did it again. Seems a bit strange to get sticking brakes after 3 hours standing.

Anyone got any ideas?? ???

Jack the car up and check the handbrake operation. Also dismantle the brakes on both sides and make sure the pads are moving freely. Put a bit of copper grease on the back of the pads and the carriers.

If the calipers are binding badly then the discs will get kaned.
