Title: bought me self a boat.... pics now added
Post by: kniterider on 21 August 2006, 20:17
well after 9 months of none vw ownersh@t i sold the ickle mr2 this morning.. and then the money sat burning a hole in my online banking balance so i scanned ebay and bought my self a boat.... ermcough cough sorry mk3..... normally a mk2 fan but there holding silly money and i cant find the bargins like i used to, and i cant afford another mk4 gti as ivr got me motorbike but i still needed some transport for them wet days.. and theres too many of them as of late..

so i got a 1993 k plate mk3 3door vr6, scabby white in colour.. with moon miles on the clock, but with bbs wheels and taxed and tested i aint moaning for £510....     pick it up tomorrow nite... if its a reeto nail then it will be 'buffed' up a tad and bunged straight back on ebay.. lol ill bung some pics up when i get it so you can all have a giggle....

and no... nothing planned for it.. other than making sure everything works as it should and doctoring any rough bits..

scarey thought this.. and never thought i'd do it but if i need to know anything i might have to venture into the darkside 'mk3 section'.......

Anyone that's got a mk3 is actually thinking long-term , with the sea levels rising they'll be the the only one's that will be of any use.

Throw away that GPS and navigate by the stars and nautical charts.  As a mk 3 owner it feels strangely natural?

:embarassed:

Others may slag mk3's off but if they only looked to see who's second in the VW Cup championship maybe the wouldn't be quite so critical

Martin Culley in his Vento VR6  http://www.imagevaults.co.uk/volkswagen/ra...6snetterton.htm (http://www.imagevaults.co.uk/volkswagen/racingcup/vwcup06snetterton.htm)
he won the last race at Snetterton, not bad going when you see what he's up against http://www.vw-cup.co.uk/cars.htm (http://www.vw-cup.co.uk/cars.htm)

I lost interest in the Vw cup after they rather deviously altered the rules in order to banish the Mk1 -  but then it had kind of become the Mk1 cup

well picked up me sailing boat tonight.....

didnt bother to test drive it or nowt as i could see it was 20 times better than i thought!!.. ill take some piccies tomorrow and bang em up... the bits i thought were gonna be bad are minor... on the plus side the aircon works, has and induction kit , lowered suspension (not sure what sort yet..), has remote central locking alarm, and the geezer couldnt be @rsed to remove his kenwood cd/mp3 player so i got that in with the deal along with half a tank of petrol!!! oh yeah it has a towbar... but im not removing as this is a bonus for towin me jetski at me dads..

few little niggles that ive gotta sort tomorrow before regular use.. but drove it back 40 miles and its fine tbh... pretty damn quick all the mfa etc works, front fogs the lot.

orange light on dash on some kind of brake pad low warning i think?
locks a bit dogey, both barrels fall out of door locks, some clips missing somewhere
and the remote for the central locking has a broken battery terminal that im gonna solder tomorrow...

will sort the locks and give it a quick wash before i pop to hardcores for a cuppa and take some pics...

aye..... had the aircon on today to see if it worked on way to Hardcore's.. and i froze me tats off so dunno why he said it werent workin.... mind you i dont think he knew alot about motors tbh... who'd sell an unlooked after vr6 for that money?? bit of hoovering washing and tinckering and he could have coined another 3-400 quids....

some peeps eeh?

dont any one ask me what induction kit it is.. i thinks its either 'fly' or 'wasp' as thats what seems to be living in it...lol.. will remove it tomorrow and try not to get stung and clean the fooker...

Looks tidy that for £510 engines go for more than that :)
Is she seaworthy or a canal cruiser! >?
Title: Re: bought me self a boat.... pics now added
Post by: kniterider on 23 August 2006, 20:48
full on seaworthy... lower body good.. dunno about highwater work.. she may spring a leak or two... lol

took it for a razz today on me own after i sorted stuff and had 142 on the clock on the 3 mile straight top road... not sure what that equates to in knots though?? no smoke either so pretty chuffed

ohhh dear.... said i wasnt goin to do anything to this.........

private plate is going on next week along with a years tax, so im gonna get me use and cant chop and change so quickly with it havin me plate on...

going to try some 5x100 pcd 17" really wide volks racing cross spokes on tomorrow (were on my mates skyline with wheel adaptors as skylinebigger pcd) if they fit im havin em.....as there dirt cheap... then thinking of somehow drifting a mk2 single headlamp/grill and trimming the bonnet to match... then either leave the bodywork to rust as it is doing quite nicely on its own, or satin black it... hmm love driving it tbh, it dont handle like the boat i thought it would cause its lowered and stuff.. so ill do what i can on a budget.. just some wider bigger wheels, a front end that i havent seen before (local vw body shop should be able to help there  ) and then try and squeeze some more horses from the lump with out spending silly amounts of money....

so the bbs's with new tyres will be up for grabs soon.. hopefully the full mk3 headlamp/grill etc too..
